Sampling & Monitoring

  • The Swing Sampler enables you to reach out up to 2.4m from a river bank or shore to take a 1.2L surface water sample. It can also be used for reaching into tanks, drums, or any difficult locations with up to 90 degrees rotation on the free-swinging head. The sample jar has a volume of 1.2L and can be re-used (recommended to use Decon 90 to clean between samples). The re-useable sample jar is made from landfill-biodegradable plastic, so when it eventually gets disposed to a landfill it will biodegrade.
  • The Shelby sampler is a thin-walled soil sampling system. The system is used to sample soils that are particularly sensitive to sampling disturbance, as it has a very low wall thickness-to-sample area ratio. The sampler consists of a thin walled steel tube whose lower end is shaped to form a cutting edge. Fieldtech Solutions is now stocking U63 and U50 Shelby Tubes and drive heads. Drive Heads are available in AW, AWJ, or NWJ box threads.
  • Used for vapour sampling beneath a concrete slab, and monitoring of vapour intrusion.  Individual parts and kits are available for order. Please view brochure below or email us via the enquiries tab below for more information.
  • The engineered plastic 12 volt submersible centrifugal Tempest/Twister® pump is capable of pumping up to 18m from ground level, and the Super Twister® up to 25m (Depth to Water) by simply connecting to a 12 volt deep cycle battery. They are well suited for continuous sampling and purging of groundwater wells, or Low Flow Sampling by adding the optional controller.

They can also be mounted on a hose reel as indicated by the images.
  • Sterile-filter and store 150 mL up to 1000 mL of cell culture media using trusted Stericup® filter units, which include a bottle-top filter and a receiving flask, and Steritop® bottle-top filters.

  • Biodegradable Sleeving for Sonic Rigs Now you can reduce your plastic footprint on sonic rig sampling jobs by using landfill-biodegradable HDPE sleeving. The clear sleeving has a 203mm lay-flat width, and a thickness of 150 micron. Suitable for Geoprobe, Boart Longyear, and any other sonic rigs which use 8" lay-flay sleeving.
  • Drilling standards for environmental applications often require that wells are drilled without the introduction of fluids. To achieve this goal hollow augers can be utilised in unstable formations where solid stem augers are not effective. 3 sizes of timber plugs are now available for your hollow stem auger installations. Made from recycled timber for sustainability.
    • 57mm (2.25")
    • 108mm (4.25")
    • 159mm (6.25")
  • The Waterra PowerPack PP1 provides the mechanical actuation for pumping with inertial pumps to depths of over 60m, in a fully portable, single operator power unit. At 13 kg, the PowerPack PP1 provides outstanding pumping performance. The PP1 is powerful enough to lift water from over 60m depth using the Standard Flow System, and is so compact that it fits onto a back-pack frame. The PowerPack PP1 incorporates clamps for Waterra High Flow and Standard tubing sizes (adaptors are available for smaller tubes). A Honda GX-25 series, 1.0 horsepower, 4 stroke, gasoline motor powers this device, which can run for approximately 1 hour without refuelling.

  • The Mityvac Silverline Hand Pump can be used for filtering water samples, using either vaccum or pressure to move the sample through the filter. Most commonly they are used on the vaccuum setting in conjunction with the Stericup filters.
  • Using syringes for groundwater filtration in the field is a popular low-cost option. It can be an ideal choice if you are not using a pump, and have a manual device such as a bailer. When using a syringe 50ml at a time can be pushed through a filter. Small low-capacity filters can be used where turbidity is low. However if turbidity is high then it may be better to use a high capacity filter such as the AquaPore Biodegradable Filter Capsule. Syriges are available in luer-lock, catheter tipped, or eccentric tipped varieties.
  • When direct push sampling in sands or loose soils, a core catcher is recommended to be used in the BioLiner, which will stop the soil sample from falling out when retrieving from depth. Our core catchers are 100% recycled plastic and landfill-biodegradable.
  • Used during soil vapour monitoring, 3-way and 2-way valves are an ideal addition as part of leak testing and purging.
